Camp Overview Day 1 — Patchwork Pillow

  • Learn basic machine-sewing techniques in a friendly, step-by-step environment where exploration is encouraged, while also working toward a common goal of a completed project

  • Learn machine sewing vocabulary and applicable tips and tricks

  • Design and assemble a colorful patchwork top, add batting and backing, and sew a finished envelope pillow you’ll be proud to take home.

  • Practice safe use of sewing machines and tools along with simple finishing touches

Day 2 — Beach Tote

  • Apply new skills to create a sturdy, custom beach tote perfect for books, towels, and treasures.

  • Learn pattern layout, cutting, reinforcing seams, and adding pockets or straps

  • Personalize your tote with fun fabrics and small embellishments using an iron, decorative stitches, and your imagination

Why join?

  • No prior sewing experience necessary — we’ll teach everything from the basics to advanced ways to finish your project professionally

  • Small, supportive group setting with patient instructor (former special education teacher and mom of two littles - I’ve taught children and grown ups alike!)

  • All tools and supplies provided, including machines, fabrics, thread, and notions.

  • Fun, practical projects you’ll use all summer and can use as springboard projects into more sewing in your future

Logistics

  • Arrival 3:45-4:00 - please be timely so we can get right to it!

  • Bring a snack to share or enjoy as our sewing skills will require energy - and usually chocolate! ;-)

  • Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little creative in. We will be inside unless the group is ready for an afternoon of open-air sewing!

Spaces are limited to four students per camp to keep the class hands-on and personal. Sign up soon to secure your spot! Additional dates may be added, but not guaranteed.

Questions? Contact us at oh & co. family designworks with any questions about camp, accommodations, or to discuss your own learning goals.

We can’t wait to sew, laugh, and create with you!
